Tea & Feast Experience

1.5 or 3.5 Hours | From $75 per guest

A fully immersive three-hour journey divided into four parts starting with a mindful tea ceremony, followed by an engaging tea history story, a five-course culinary fusion feast, and a hands-on tea blending workshop.

Inside the Experience

Begin your journey with an intimate exploration of heritage, culture, and flavor. This first half brings guests together for a traditional Gong Fu tea ceremony, a multi-course fusion tasting, and a narrative dive into the history of tea.

You will have full access to the property and are welcome inside the kitchen to grab a welcome drink, including tea-infused cocktails complete with all mixers and ingredients provided by Houston-renowned Mixing Perfect Events. As you settle in, the host will give a brief background of the estate and an overview of the day’s activities.

Step into the Bamboo Studio, where you are greeted by a lush tropical plant installation designed by Third Ward Blooms and a calming backdrop of traditional Chinese music. You are instantly transported to a quiet sanctuary away from the city. This immersive Gongfu tea ceremony features two distinct pours—a high-grade oolong and a classic Tie Guan Yin—showcasing deep aromas and natural sweetness, paired with light, palate-cleansing bites.

Use this 20-minute window to grab a fresh tea cocktail, check your phone, or just stretch out while we reset for the food tasting. Step outside to take in the landscape, featuring “gorgeous bamboos placed beautifully in the only tea house planting I have seen” — Wendy, Owner of Bamboo Texas, hang out in the tea lounge in the main residence, or watch the setup unfold.

Yum Cha Olé is our signature creation: a selection of five fusion dishes pairing bold Chinese and Mexican flavors, crafted in collaboration with Near Northside favorite Rio Verdence. With select elements steaming live on-site and a custom soundtrack blending traditional Chinese sounds with Mexican tejano and mariachi, the atmosphere channels the vibrant energy of a bustling dim sum house with a low-key, festive edge:

  • Mole-Sichuan Beef Meatballs

  • Dynasty JianBing Quesadilla

  • Imperial Duck Flauta

  • Chicharrón Lotus Wrap

  • Carne Dragon Bun

A quick note on the plate: These flavors run deep, heavy, and spicy in the best way, balanced out with paired pours of aged Pu’er and scented jasmine tea to reset the palate between bites.

As guests wrap up the Yum Cha Olé feast, this part of the journey unfolds as a quick, engaging walkthrough of how a wild leaf traveled from ancient legends to global daily life—moving from accidental discoveries and the Robert Fortune plant theft to the linguistic divide of how the world says its name (such as why the English say tea while Indians say chai). Consider this less of a formal history lesson and more of a rapid-fire tour of wild legends, industrial espionage, and fun cultural trivia designed purely for the curious.

Transition into the hands-on and social portion of the afternoon. This second half welcomes new arrivals to mix and mingle, dive into a 45-ingredient custom tea blending session, and wind down with fresh brews and light pastries in the bamboo studio.

As the first half wraps up, the space shifts into a relaxed social window. Grab a fresh drink, catch your breath, and mix and mingle as the Part 2 guests arrive. It is a casual, lively handoff where everyone gets introduced before we transition over to the blending bar to start crafting.

Step over to the Blending Bar located inside the main residence for a hands-on, highly entertaining introduction to crafting your own custom brews designed strictly for novelty and enjoyment. You will have full access to 45 curated ingredients, including caffeinated teas, herbal botanicals, dried fruits, and spices. Rather than chasing a complex flavor profile on the spot, this session leans heavily on the practical mechanics and ratios of blending. You will craft two distinct blends to take home—one packed in a gorgeous, giftable tin and the other in a companion bag—and you are encouraged to document, name, and photograph your recipes for easy reordering.

Head back out to the Bamboo Studio to cap off the session in comfort. Sample your freshly crafted creations alongside a selection of light pastries while you unwind and chat with the group. Before you head out, browse our curated retail space to pick up full-sized loose-leaf teas, teawares, and event merchandise to bring the experience home.

Planning your Experience

The Tea & Feast experience is exclusively bookable online through Eventbrite. Private group bookings for 10 or more guests are welcome by special arrangement.

Each experience is strictly capped at a maximum of 12 guests. Keeping our gatherings small allows for a deeply immersive, hands-on experience where everyone has space to engage. It also ensures we remain mindful of our wonderful Near Northside community and parking flow, keeping things smooth and easy for everyone around us.

Looking for a private gathering? We love hosting private group bookings. For a full buyout of the experience, we require a minimum group size of 10 guests up to our maximum capacity of 12. Because these sessions are entirely yours, we are more than happy to tailor the schedule and flow to accommodate your specific needs—whether you are hosting a corporate team with time set aside for awards or a baby shower with moments carved out for gifts. Reach out directly to coordinate a custom date and time that fits your group.

Dress code is casual and comfortable. Since our gatherings are relaxed and involve moving between indoor spaces and outdoor areas, flats or comfortable walking shoes are your best bet. We are all about ease here rather than a formal dress-up tea party—though private groups are always welcome to style their own theme if they wish.

To keep things easy with the local street construction going on right now, we highly recommend carpooling or grabbing a rideshare. If you are driving, parking is available on McNeil Street only (please leave Cochran Street and the side of the residence on Luzon clear).

Please arrive promptly for your scheduled session. Parking details and instructions will be provided prior to your visit. Because our gatherings follow a structured itinerary, guests arriving 10 minutes late or more may be asked to wait until an appropriate transition between segments to join the group, ensuring other attendees are not interrupted.

Our sessions run on a structured timeline to maintain a smooth flow. However, given the casual and immersive nature of the experience, certain segments may run longer than planned. If you have strict post-experience plans or tight commitments, we recommend building in at least an extra 1.5 hours beyond the scheduled end time so you can enjoy the experience without feeling rushed.

Make yourself at home—mi casa es su casa. When you join us, you have full run of the private estate, including all outdoor areas, the bamboo studio, and the sitting areas within the two bedroom suites for lounging rather than sleeping. Feel free to come and go as you please—if you need to step away to handle personal affairs in the main house at any point during the experience, you are entirely welcome to do so, just while remaining respectful of your fellow guests.

We provide two signature teas designed to be enjoyed on their own or mixed with spirits. Feel free to bring your favorite bottle and follow the custom recipes curated by Mixing Perfect Events. Courtesy labels will be provided at check-in if you prefer to keep track of your personal bottles.

This is a strictly 21-and-older experience. We may ask for valid ID upon arrival. Because of the nature of the multi-course dining, botanical tea service, and BYOB format, infants, children, and guests under the age of 21 are not permitted to attend.

Our menu features bold flavors, set multi-course dishes, and botanical teas. Please be aware that nuts and other common allergens are present in the house. Because we cannot make special menu accommodations, guarantee an allergen-free environment, or handle food allergies of any kind, this experience is not suitable for anyone with food allergies. Additionally, please consult your healthcare provider if you take medications that might interact with herbal teas or botanical ingredients.

Please note that our venue involves steps, uneven terrain, and quick outdoor transitions. Due to the physical layout of the property, the space is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. Because the experience requires moving between spaces and navigating stairs, it is not suitable for anyone who requires assistance walking or has difficulty standing for extended periods of time. If you have any questions about the physical requirements before booking, please reach out.

Full refunds are available up to 7 days before your scheduled experience. Because our seating is strictly capped to protect our intimate capacity, cancellations made within 7 days of the session are non-refundable, but you are always welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend or substitute guest.

Safety comes first. Because our experience involves quick transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces as well as food deliveries, severe weather impacting these elements will dictate our schedule. If we must cancel due to unsafe conditions, we will notify you at least 24 hours in advance (or as soon as possible for sudden weather events) and gladly reschedule your session or issue a full credit. If the session proceeds as scheduled and you choose not to attend, tickets remain non-refundable.
